U.S. CPI Components - Monthly SA
Chart Description
CPI is an abbreviation for Consumer Price Index, an index intended to represent consumer price inflation in the U.S. over time. This chart shows monthly, seasonally adjusted, top-level components of the CPI. The data is scaled so that the last data point maps to 100. The vertical axis uses a log scale to better illustrate the relative size of index value changes. This chart shows that different categories of consumer goods and services have increased at different rates over time. The data in this chart originates at the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, but is more easily retrieved from this St. Louis Federal Reserve CPI components table.
